As a result of planned expansion and international growth, we are currently looking for a person to join and grow with our Information Technology team.  We require a Network Administrator to ensure the stable operation of the Enterprise Network Infrastructure.  This will includes the planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all network hardware, software, phone systems and communication links.  This individual will assist project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of our standard Project Management Methodology.  The Network Administrator will be accountable for the following systems: Cisco Routers, Cisco VPN, Palo Alto Firewalls, Juniper Switches, Juniper Wireless Infrastructure, Phone Systems and Inter-office Links.  The Network Administrator is a level 2 and 3 support resource, working in conjunction with the Help Desk, Business Applications and Systems teams.
 
Qualifications:
 
Formal Education & Certification
  • College diploma or University degree in the field of computer science or related
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Network Administrator
  • Certification in Cisco CCNA and Juniper JunOS is an asset
 
Knowledge & Experience
  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including Cisco, Juniper
  • Strong knowledge of local and wide area network administration
  • Working experience with Enterprise Network Infrastructures
  • Working experience with Enterprise Wireless Network Infrastructures
 
  • Working experience with VoIP infrastructures
  • Working experience with monitoring tools such as vFogLight, vKernel and What’s Up Gold
  • Hands-on network troubleshooting experience
  • Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws

Job Responsibilities:
  • Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for network, systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers
  • Contribute to and lead the development of infrastructure standards (technical, process, etc.)
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for network administration tasks.  Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems procurement and development efforts
  • Install new / rebuild existing network infrastructures and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, monitoring, configuring routing with BGP and OSPF, firewall policies, NAT rules QoS, bandwidth shaping, WAN optimization etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Coordinate with other IT functions to implement network systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives
  • Participate in negotiations with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software/hardware products and services
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all network resources, traffic and interconnectivity, reviewing traffic logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as firmware and OS upgrades
  • Perform regular security monitoring and audit of systems; recommend and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure the integrity and security of internal and external network traffic in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance
  • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on network devices
  • Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases
  • Create required reports in response to business user needs
  • Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network administration and appropriate use
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior member of the team
  • Support Help Desk team with Level 2 and 3 incidents that are network related
  • Be part of the IT after-hours support on-call rotation
